Various Amusements and was inspired by Gertrude Jekyll’s book, Children and Gardens, first published in 1908. Jeykll (1843-1932) was a British landscape architect, artist and author of articles and books on garden design. Sax has created an installation representing the Jekyll’s garden for children. The installation includes a large wall mural of Iris’s, garden animals and a tea party.

It was an unwritten rule of Miss Jekyll’s planning that every garden should have a character, a personality, or as Lutyens.said in a debate on garden design at the Architectural Association in 1908 (having spent the previous weekend at Munstead Wood to rehearse Miss Jekyll’s words), ‘a backbone- a central idea beautifully phrased.’ The garden was not merely a collection of plants but a work of art arising first as an idea in the mind of an artistic creator.
